Self catering river-side cottage in County Down

This very attractive cottage is located right beside a river in the grounds of the owners converted Mill. The generous internal & exterior space are designed to enjoy the space and light with a simple and natural style, which has achieved a very restful atmosphere. A small TV and broadband connection are available.

It has 2 bedrooms, one with a double-bed and one with a bunk-bed (sleeps 4). There is level access throughout the cottage and the shower is a level access wet-room (no bath). There is underfloor heating throughout, and it is very comfortable environment due to the high level of insulation. There is also a wood-burning stove.

The cottage has a sun-filled veranda to the south and west. It's set in a natural attractive garden with young orchard and vegetable plots, and has access to the river bank with diverse bird-life (and rarely spotted otter).

The house was featured in Living Design Summer 2010 and published in The Guardian, the Belfast Telegraph and Down Recorder. The cottage is built with hemp-crete walls and a grass roof (see more in "Sustainable design" section) and a short film is available for those interested in innovative construction.
